Pulpit to the Pew

Summer is a very busy time for Lakeside Church. Church camp is only a week away. Our own revival will be August 10-14, which will be back to back with our Vacation Bible School (August 3-7). Even so, we should take opportunity to support the churches of our fellowship in summer revivals. You can, most likely, find a revival at a nearby ABA church every week from now until fall.

Birthday Celebration - There will be a 70th Birthday Celebration for Missionary Joe Hellums at 1:30 PM today in the New Liberty Mission Fellowship Hall at Beebe. All of our church congregation is invited to attend. There is a card on the vestibule table for everyone to sign.

Ladies Auxiliary Cook Books - Advance sales for the Ladies Auxiliary cook books are being accepted. The books will be $12.00 each. You will find coupons on the vestibule table. Money for the cookbooks may be turned in to Sister Faye or Sister Brenda.

Looking for a few "Sound Men" - The Men’s Fellowship has committed to the purchase of a multi-functional (CD/DVD) duplicator for the sound room. To use a play on words; all of our men are invited to take part in being "sound men" for Lakeside by helping to purchase this equipment. We have had a good response to the "Sound Men" project. Checks should be made out to the church and clearly marked on the memo line where the offering is to be used.

Youth Choir Practice After Lunch Today

Adult Choir Practice 5:00 PM Today

Budd Creek Week

Grand Prairie Church Camp – Camp pre-registration is going well. Registration material may be found on the vestibule table in the church foyer. Camp will be July 20-24. Campers must be at least 9 years of age or have an adult (male for boys and female for girls) be responsible for that underage child. One adult male counselor for each 10 or fewer boys and one adult female counselor for each 10 or fewer girls is required. Camp fee is $65 per camper. Most, if not all, of this fee is offset by the generous offerings of our church members. The "Budd Creek" offering is received throughout the year so that anyone who wants to go to church camp will be able to do so.

Bottled Water Drive - Cases of bottled water are being accepted for our church camp week. Cases of water should be placed in the empty room, second door from the end, in the fellowship hall.

Pre-Camp Meeting for Campers - There will be a brief meeting for our campers and sponsors just after the morning service concludes. We will meet in the center section of the church auditorium. Parents are encouraged to stay for the meeting.

VBS Week

Vacation Bible School - The first week of August, Lakeside will conduct a Vacation Bible School for kindergarten through sixth grade. (Our teens assist with VBS.) You can help, even now, to make the 2009 VBS a great success. First, pray for the school. Second, mark your calendar and make plans to help out on that week. Third, get commitments now; from grandchildren, neighbor kids and any other children you know. Fourth, remind them regularly when and where the VBS will take place.

Request: Our Director has asked that you save; clear, one or two liter, bottles for VBS.

Sunday Morning I Cor. 15:35-50 24th in series

Two questions had been raised about the resurrection body. First, how are the dead raised? Second, what is the nature of the resurrected body? After a harsh rebuke, Paul answers these questions about the spiritual by comparing raising the dead to that which is natural.

How is it Possible to Raise the Dead?

I. The Seed Planted I Cor. 15:35-28

A. Seed cannot produce unless the seed dies - left behind

B. All that comes forth had to be in the seed already

II. Different Live Forms on This Earth I Cor. 15:39

A. Various life forms on this earth besides people

B. Beasts made for the outdoors

C. Fish made for living in water

D. Birds made with wings

III. Celestial and Terrestrial I Cor. 15:40-41

A. Celestial refers to that which is in outer space

B. Terrestrial refers to that which is of this planet

C. Sun, moon and stars all very different

IV. "So also is the Resurrection" I Cor. 15:42-50

A. Corruption is raised in incorruption (v 42)

B. Dishonor is raised in glory (v 43a)

C. Weakness is raised in power (v 43b)

D. Natural body is raised a spiritual body (v 44)

E. Changes must take place to be with the Lord in heaven

1. Change our vile bodies (Phil 3:20-21)

2. Not yet apparent what we shall be (I John 3:2)

V. The Natural and the Spiritual I Cor. 15:45-50

A. First Adam was of the earth or natural (Gen. 2:7)

B. Last Adam (Christ) was from heaven and spiritual

C. Man bears the image of the earthy (first Adam)

D. Saved Men will one day bear the image of the heavenly

1. Image of Christ to show through even now (II Cor. 3:18)

2. Flesh and blood cannot enter heaven (v 50)

Con. What the Bible teaches about the resurrection has been proved in the person of Jesus Christ. It is the testimony of our baptism. It is the sum of all our preaching. It is the basis of our faith (Rom. 10:9-10).
