Pulpit to the Pew

Next Sunday night (July 26th) Brother James Calhoun will be with us. Brother Calhoun is the promotion director for the Arkansas State Mission Project. He will be here to present a check from the ASMP for our mission work in Beebe. The goal is to pay off the debt on the property which is $44,421.00 The New Liberty Mission will hold joint services with us here that night. It should be a great service with Singspiration and a pot-luck fellowship on the same evening.

Building Fund Special Offering - The third Sunday of each month we receive a special offering for the building fund. Ushers will be at the doors to the auditorium to receive this offering following the morning services today.

Grand Prairie Church Camp

We have about fifty people signed up to go to church camp this week. Everyone, adults included, must have a completed medical form that will be going to camp tomorrow. It would be best to fill these out and turn them in today. There is a folder on the vestibule table for completed forms. We plan to leave for camp at 9:00 AM on Monday morning and return before noon on Friday. We will stop for lunch in Heber Springs on Monday. Campers will need to buy their own lunch that day.

Thank You - Those who are going to Budd Creek Camp this week really appreciate the bottled water that was donated. It will be iced down and readily available all week.

Singspiration and Fellowship - The fourth Sunday night of each month is given over to special music by our members and a church-wide fellowship that follows. We will have a lot of company that night. Come prepared with good specials for the service and good food for the pot luck.

Passport to the Promised Land

Vacation Bible School – August 3-7

6:00 – 8:30 PM

The first week of August, Lakeside will conduct a Vacation Bible School for kindergarten through sixth grade. (Our teens assist with VBS.) You can help, even now, to make the 2009 VBS a great success. First, pray for the school. Second, mark your calendar and make plans to help out on that week. Third, get commitments now; from grandchildren, neighbor kids and any other children you know. Fourth, remind them regularly when and where the VBS will take place.

Request from the Director: Sister Faye has asked that you save clear, one or two liter, bottles for VBS.

Sunday Morning I Cor. 15:51-58 25th in series

It is a logical conclusion that sin cursed, dying or even dead bodies cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. The mystery is here revealed that our bodies must be changed. In a fraction of a second, the saved will be caught up to meet the Lord. This serves as both an encouragement and a warning to be ready for that great day.

Heaven Bound People

I. A Mystery Revealed I Cor. 15:50-53

A. The Scriptures are clear about the resurrection (Rev. 20:4-6)

B. Some at Corinth had challenged this doctrine (v 34-35)

C. The saved, living and dead, will be raised (v 51)

1. Clearly; all the saved shall rise together (I Thess. 4:15-18)

2. Not all saved people will die before Jesus comes

3. Those saints still living will be changed without dying first

D. Time frame: moment (atomos) indivisible particle of time 1. Twinkling of an eye - no time for change (Rev. 22:10-12)

2. Last trump shall sound - signal the end of the age

E. These things must take place (Job 19:25-26, Heb. 11:19)

1. Decaying bodies in the grave; changed to incorruptible

2. We (living saints); instantly take on a new body (v 52)

II. A Victory Guaranteed I Cor. 15:54-57

A. Death is swallowed up in victory (I Cor. 15:26)

1. Death is natural end of the sinner (James 1:14-15)

2. Sting (as venomous creature) rendered powerless

3. But for sin, death would hold no sing for the saved

B. Compare Jesus to Moses lifting up serpent (John 3:14)

1. Jesus has conquered death for every man (Heb. 2:9)

2. He has fulfilled all requirements (Col. 2:14, Isa. 53:11)

3. God’s law makes sin appear sinful (Rom. 7:12-13)

C. Jesus broke the chains of sin and death to bring victory

1. Victory over death, corruption and the grave

2. Thanks be to God that victory transferred to believers

III. A Needed Labor I Cor. 15:58

A. Therefore or because of these things we are to serve God

B. In the face of difficulty; we are told to be...

1. Steadfast - stand firm or set for conflict

2. Unmovable - unshaken or strong

3. Always abounding - to super abound or be diligent

Con. We know our labor is not in vain, if we know He is coming for us.
