Pulpit to the Pew

In our own (Christian?) nation, we tolerate the slaughter of babies before they even draw their first breath. Our nation accepts, and in some cases rewards, that which is immoral. Rather than shut down or penalize gambling, it is promoted by our government. The prophet Isaiah gave a stern warning against those who would substitute their preferences for the revealed will of God (see Isa. 5:18-25). Once again, evil things are declared to be good and sinfully dark things touted as profound light. We should heed the warning God gave to the nation of Israel; "Be sure your sin will find you out." (Num. 32:23).

Fund Raiser Dinner - Ordinarily, we would have a pot luck (where everybody brings food) on the 5th Sunday, March 29th. However, there has been a slight change of plans. The Pot Luck Fund Raiser will be on Easter Sunday, April 12th and Sister Bobbie Sanner’s team will cook on March 29th.

Youth Rally - The Grand Prairie Youth Rally will meet with Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, March 16th at 7:30 PM. Those who wish to ride the church van should be here at Lakeside at 6:45 PM.

Men’s Meeting - There will be a brief Men’s Meeting following the evening services today.

Benevolence Pantry - Sister Doris asks that those who would like to help stock the benevolence pantry to begin now by bringing two cans of non perishable goods each Sunday. The shelves are basically bare this time of year but this plan would stock up the pantry without needing large donations when time is critical.

Building Fund Special Offering Today

Ushers will be at the auditorium doors at the close of the morning service to receive special offerings for the building fund. This offering is received on the third Sunday of each month.

AWANA/DISCOVERY – Our AWANA/DISCOVERY groups had ninety three present last Wednesday night. It takes many adults to work in these youth programs but we do provide a class for adults who are not teaching on Wednesday night. All the parents who bring their young people to our Wednesday night programs are welcome to stay for the adult Bible study in the auditorium.

Pre-Teen Retreat - Christians Under Fire

Today is the deadline to register for the Spring Pre-Teen Retreat. This is the retreat that our church sponsors each year for 9-12 year olds at Budd Creek Baptist Camp. There is a registration list on the vestibule table as well as camp brochures with more information. The retreat will be March 27-28.

Meeting Note: There will be a meeting following lunch this Sunday to finalize plans for the retreat.

AYC - Arkansas Youth Conference

It is also time to register for Arkansas Youth Conference. The Youth Conference attracts thousands of our teenagers from American Baptist Association churches all across Arkansas. This event will be held in the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock on April 17-18. You may see Brother Dennis Johnson for more details or there is a poster on the bulletin board.
