Pulpit to the Pew

Satan is the adversary, the enemy, the destroyer of men’s lives (I Peter 5:8-9). To do battle with him, two things are necessary. We must give ourselves over to God and reject the ploys of the devil. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7).

Missionary Committee Meeting

Lakeside’s Missionary Committee will meet this afternoon in the Couples Classroom. The meeting is just after lunch (about 12:30 PM).

Please note that the church voted to move business meetings to the second Sunday night of each month. Our next scheduled business conference will be on Sunday night, October 11, 2009.

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting

Budd Creek Special Offering

The first Sunday of each month the church receives a special offering to help send our young people to Budd Creek in the summer. Following today’s morning preaching service, ushers will be at the auditorium doors to receive this offering.

From Our Missionaries

Brother Joe and Sister Katie Hellums report (by e-mail) 533 saved in Ecuador with the Medical Missions International. Two more were saved during preaching services last Sunday. They will be in Columbia today and back in Arkansas late Friday.

Ladies Auxiliary Cook Books

Advance sales for the Ladies Auxiliary cook books are being accepted. The books will be $12.00 each. You will find coupons on the vestibule table. Money for the cookbooks may be turned in to Sister Faye or Sister Brenda.

New Tabernacle at Budd Creek

Lakeside Church would like to raise $10,000.00 during the next year for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund. Several fund raising efforts are already underway: The change jar in our vestibule has a $1,000.00 goal for this purpose. The rent a kid project may be done at any time during the year. (Our young people may be "rented" by our church members for chores at a rate of $10.00 per hour. See Scott Addison for details.) Of course, all the proceeds go into the Tabernacle Fund.

Another effort that is underway is for parents, grandparents or others interested adults to give a regular monthly offering. A monthly offering of $25.00 amounts to $300 in twelve months. If 30 families did this, it would raise $9,000.00 in a year!

Everything should go through the church. The church treasurer is keeping up with all that is given for the Tabernacle Fund. Your checks should be made out to Lakeside and designated on the memo line that it is for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund.

Please don’t forget to pray. Pray that God will bless the efforts of other churches that are also raising funds for the new tabernacle. Pray for Brother Paul and Sister Dianne Weatherford, who are responsible for the operation of the camp. Pray that souls would be saved as a result of the preaching of the gospel at Budd Creek Church Camp.
