Pulpit to the Pew

The gothic trapping of Halloween (all-hallows-eve) are directly related to the ridiculous idea that evil spirit are released from hell for a "night out". The truth is that all the lost are forever condemned and will never escape. Not even for one evening (see Luke 16:23-31). However, there is coming a day when all those in hell will be brought up. It is a day when; Satan, his angels, all the lost and even the institutions of "hell and death" will be cast into everlasting darkness called the lake of fire. Hell is inescapable. All who die without accepting Jesus as Savior will open their eyes in hell and spend eternity in the lake of fire (Rev 20:10-15).

Men’s Fellowship

The monthly men’s fellowship meeting will be at 7:00 PM tomorrow night (10-26-09) in the church fellowship hall. The meal is pot luck and all of our men are invited to attend.

AWANA/Discovery

Even with so many out sick, we still had ninety for AWANA and Discovery last Wednesday evening. Once again we had new students for the program last week. The abbreviated time schedule is working out very well.

Daylight Savings Time Ends

Daylight Savings Time will end November 1st this year. We will need to set our clocks back one hour before retiring next Saturday evening, October 31st. Remember, the clocks "fall" back one hour in the fall of the year.

Singspiration & Fellowship This Evening

The fourth Sunday night of each month is given to specials. The service will be followed by a pot luck fellowship for the entire church. Get your music together, bring a cover dish and prepare for a great church evening.

Hay Ride & Fellowship

A hay ride and fellowship is planned at the Reidhar farm this Saturday night, October 31st. Listen for more information in today’s services. If you are looking for something to do with instead of Halloween, come on out.

As always, Lakeside did an excellent job hosting the association youth rally. Please convey our appreciation to those involved in the skit and to the ladies who served a delicious meal.

Thank you for the lovely flowers. If it ever stops raining, they will be planted along the privacy fence. Thanks so much, God bless all of you.

Holiday Food Pantry

Lakeside gives family food baskets out for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. The pantry is not bare but does need certain food items such as flour and meal to be replenished from now until that time. See Sister Wallace for more information on the food pantry.

Sunday Morning II Cor 4:1-18 10-25-09

The reason a child of God conducts his life so differently after his salvation experience is because he is different. Things have drastically changed within the soul. Paul tells some of the reasons for his dramatic change in behavior since he met Christ on the road to Damascus. Going back to the old life is not an option for anyone who has been born again of the Spirit of God.

We Faint Not

I. Received Mercy (v 1)

A. Ministry received from God - Paul called to preach (I Cor 9:16)

B. It was a ministry of the Spirit (II Cor 3:3)

C. Never faint (lose heart) - quitting is not an option (v 1 &16)

II. Renounced Dishonesty (v 2)

A. Paul’s defense was plain truth (II Cor 3:12)

B. Accusations abounded but no hidden agenda for this man

C. Some do have an idolatrous heart (Ezk 8:7-10, 14:1-7)

D. Some do handle Word of God deceitfully

III. Reflection of Jesus (v 3-6)

A. Paul’s road to Damascus experience blinded him (Acts 9)

B. Same light that reflected glory in Moses face (II Cor 3:7)

C. Light of the gospel must be seen in believer (v 4)

IV. Received in Earthen Vessels (v 7)

A. No glory in the flesh (I Cor 1:29)

B. Unimaginable gift put in decaying bodies of believers

V. Refuge in Time of Trouble (v 8-15)

A. Metaphors of military combat (v 8-9)

B. Death and Life of Christ evident in believers lives (v 10-12)

C. We believe and preach the resurrection (v 13-15)

VI. Renewed Man (v 16)

A. Day by day that faith in the resurrection power is seen

B. Outward man will perish but we have more than that

C. We faint not (Isa 40:31)

VII. Reward in Glory (v 17-18)

A. Trouble in this life is light affliction

B. Rewards in heaven are a great weight

Con. Our faith is not in what we see or experience here but in that which is eternal. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Heb. 11:1
