Pulpit to the Pew

We look forward to "Promotion Sunday" every year. All those who will be moving up in age level will do so today. We have classes for all age levels, as well as several adult classes. New teachers and officers should be in place this Sunday also.

Business Meeting

The church monthly business meeting will follow the evening services today. All of our church members are encouraged to be present to take part in the business of the Kingdom of God.

Missionary Committee Meeting

The Lakeside Missionary Committee will meet in the Couples classroom after lunch today. Anyone may attend the missionary committee meetings and your input is welcome.

Budd Creek Special Offering Today

On the first Sunday of each month we receive a special offering to help pay campers fees to Budd Creek in the summer. This has been sufficient to send fifty or more campers to Budd Creek every year. Those who wish to give, will be able to do so following the morning service. Ushers will be at the auditorium doors to accept your offering.

Thank You

Thanks from all of us here at Lakeside to those who came and worked to get the FLEC building ready for AWANA and Discovery. We especially appreciate the young people who came to work. Just a few more day now and we will begin our 2009-20010 AWANA year!

AWANA/Discovery

Our AWANA/Discovery youth ministry will begin the fall semester this Wednesday night, September 9th. If you have not signed up but would like to help in some way, see our AWANA Commander, Brother Dennis Johnson. Every year we have young people who are saved as a result of the AWANA program. Be much in prayer for this year and that we will continue to be completely committed to teaching young people the Word of God.

Important Note - We will use the FLEC building entrance for sign in this year. The bus will let our young people out and pick them up at this entrance. Please be mindful of this when you park you vehicle this Wednesday night.

New Tabernacle at Budd Creek

Lakeside Church would like to raise $10,000.00 during the next year for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund. Several fund raising efforts are already underway: The change jar in our vestibule has a $1,000.00 goal for this purpose. The rent a kid project may be done at any time during the year. (Our young people may be "rented" by our church members for chores at a rate of $10.00 per hour. See Scott Addison for details.) Of course, all the proceeds go into the Tabernacle Fund.

Another effort that is underway is for parents, grandparents or others interested adults to give a regular monthly offering. A monthly offering of $25.00 amounts to $300 in twelve months. If 30 families did this, it would raise $9,000.00 in a year!

Everything should go through the church. The church treasurer is keeping up with all that is given for the Tabernacle Fund. Your checks should be made out to Lakeside and designated on the memo line that it is for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund.

Please don’t forget to pray. Pray that God will bless the efforts of other churches that are also raising funds for the new tabernacle. Pray for Brother Paul and Sister Dianne Weatherford, who are responsible for the operation of the camp. Pray that souls would be saved as a result of the preaching of the gospel at Budd Creek Church Camp.

Ladies Auxiliary Cook Books

Advance sales for the Ladies Auxiliary cook books are being accepted. The books will be $12.00 each. You will find coupons on the vestibule table. Money for the cookbooks may be turned in to Sister Faye or Sister Brenda.

Sunday Morning John 14:1-6 09-6-09

We cannot fully comprehend the glory and grander of heaven. Even if we could, it is beyond our ability to express (II Cor. 2:9, II Cor. 12:2-4). Some things which have been seen and recorded in the Scriptures are difficult for us to fully relate; Jacob’s ladder, Isaiah temple vision, Ezekiel’s wheels and John’s revelation. All provoke questions but the most provoking question ever asked is "Why should God let you into His heaven?" If the answer is because you have accepted Jesus. The next would be, "What kind of reception will you receive?"

Our Entrance into Heaven

I. Accepted in the Beloved Eph. 1:4-7

A. God had a plan before the universe was created

1. Sinners could become w/o blame before Him

2. It brings God pleasure to save souls (v 5)

3. Accepted as beloved because accepted in the blood

B. All who go to heaven have accepted Christ as Savior

C. An acceptable life is pleasing to God (Rom. 12:1-2)

1. Shameful to accept Jesus then live unacceptable lives

2. Present your bodies as living, acceptable sacrifices

II. Abundant Entrance into God’s Kingdom II Peter 1:5-11

A. Richly rewarded as hero’s welcome from the battle (v 11)

B. Peter clearly defines how this is possible

C. Those with abundant entrance have added to their faith

1. Begins with moral virtue and builds up to God’s love

2. Abounding in the knowledge of the Lord

D. Long to hear, "Well done though good and faithful servant"

E. Opposite true for those who add nothing to their faith

1. Blind, cannot see far off - no spiritual perception

2. Wonder if they are even saved!

III. Appearance in Terror II Cor. 5:10-11, I Cor. 3:13-15

A. Saved, yet so as by fire - no rewards for such a person

1. Saved people judged as to rewards - involving all deeds

2. Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men

B. Behold, I come quickly - reward is with me (Rev. 22:12)

Con. The question is not only why should God let you into His heaven. If you have been saved, the question now is, how will your entrance be?

Will it be in triumph of a faithful soldier of the cross or in terror of a deserter before the King?
