Pulpit to the Pew

Someone told me the other day. "If you want to hear God laugh, just tell Him your plans for the future." We really do not have any idea what the future holds. God not only knows but has already planned for it. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow... For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that." (James 14a-15).

Funeral Service: The Jeremy Hunt funeral service will be at 2 PM this afternoon here at Lakeside. We will serve the family lunch just after our morning services, at 11:30 AM. After the Hunt Family is fed, our people will be able to go through the line for our "Fund Raiser Dinner". (There should be plenty of food.) Please note that tables are set up in the FLEC building to help with seating. Drinks are already in the FLEC building.

Parking: Those who are able, should park on our gravel parking lot this morning or over on the access road next to Sisson’s Garage.

AWANA/Discovery

Our AWANA clubs and Teen Discovery got off to a good start last Wednesday evening. There were ninety three present, not including the pastor’s auditorium class. Sign-in takes place at the main entrance of the FLEC building this year. The big bus will let riders off and pick them up at this door. Please remember to allow the bus space to maneuver when you park your vehicle on Wednesday nights.

Lord’s Supper

The church ordinance of the Lord’s Supper was to have been observed this evening. It has been postponed until next Sunday evening.

Grand Prairie Youth Rally

The youth rally will be held with Faith Missionary Baptist Church here in Des Arc on September 21st. We really should be able to bring home the attendance banner this time! (Lakeside is next in line to host the youth rally which will be on October 19th.)

Choir Notes:

We will not be able to have Children’s Choir nor Adult Choir practice today. All members of the Adult Choir should pick up their CD of the Christmas music from Brother Dennis Johnson.

New Tabernacle at Budd Creek

Lakeside Church would like to raise $10,000.00 during the next year for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund. Several fund raising efforts are already underway: The change jar in our vestibule has a $1,000.00 goal for this purpose. The rent a kid project may be done at any time during the year. (Our young people may be "rented" by our church members for chores at a rate of $10.00 per hour. See Scott Addison for details.) Of course, all the proceeds go into the Tabernacle Fund.

Another effort that is underway is for parents, grandparents or others interested adults to give a regular monthly offering. A monthly offering of $25.00 amounts to $300 in twelve months. If 30 families did this, it would raise $9,000.00 in a year!

Everything should go through the church. The church treasurer is keeping up with all that is given for the Tabernacle Fund. Your checks should be made out to Lakeside and designated on the memo line that it is for the Budd Creek Tabernacle Fund.

Please don’t forget to pray. Pray that God will bless the efforts of other churches that are also raising funds for the new tabernacle. Pray for Brother Paul and Sister Dianne Weatherford, who are responsible for the operation of the camp. Pray that souls would be saved as a result of the preaching of the gospel at Budd Creek Church Camp.

Ladies Auxiliary Cook Books

Advance sales for the Ladies Auxiliary cook books are being accepted. The books will be $12.00 each. You will find coupons on the vestibule table. Money for the cookbooks may be turned in to Sister Faye or Sister Brenda.

Sunday Morning Joel 3:12-14 09-13-09

The context of this passage is that of the battle of Armageddon which closes the Great Tribulation period. Jesus will put a stop to it all and the judgment of nations will take place. This passage speaks of a time of decision. The harvest is ripe, the press is full, the fats are overflowing with wickedness. Multitudes will be unprepared for the terror of Armageddon but even worse, are unprepared for judgment. The time to prepare is now.
