Outline for Sunday, April 27, 2025
Sunday AM I Corinthians 15:29-50 4-27-25
Important questions about the resurrection are answered in this chapter.
The decomposed bodies of those who have died in Christ will not be
reconstructed. Neither can the living body of a believer enter heaven (v
50). A change must take place before one can come into the presence
of God. That change is the resurrection.
How Are the Dead Raised?
I. Pictured in Baptism I Cor 15:29-34, Rom 6:1-5
A. Baptism is a burial in water, picturing death of old man
B. Pictures being “Raised to walk in newness of life”
II. Not Raised in an Earthly Body I Cor 15:35-44
2. Terrestrial refers to that which is of this planet
G. So is the resurrection of the dead (I Cor 15:42-44)
1. Corruption is raised in incorruption (v 42b)
2. Dishonor is raised in glory (v 43a)
3. Weakness is raised in power (v 43b)
4. Natural body is raised spiritual body
III. Bearing the Image of the Heavenly I Cor 15:45-50
C. Mankind bears the image of the first Adam now
D. Saved will one day bear the image of the heavenly
E. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
Con. Because this body is corruptible, it cannot enter heaven but the
resurrection body, is suited for heaven. (I John 3:2).
